thanks, mispronouned & mistimed subtitles, for making this episode so much more enjoyable

Normally I’d say “this only looks suggestive out of context,” but well…let’s consider Zenigata’s track record (from “Catch the Phony Lupin!”).

fireami:

Zenigata takes Lupin’s hand and offers to spend the rest of his life with him.

he proposes with a tiny handcuff ring

Pops fundamentally misunderstands what Lupin meant by ‘tie me to the bed’ (from Dead or Alive)#the eyebrow is all the context you need

is that suggestive toe-wiggling

Boundaries, Lupin. He only wanted to sleep handcuffed to you (from Steal Napoleon’s Dictionary).

after making sure they had the nicest room in the fanciest hotel, taking turns feeding each other steak dinner…at this point, we know the handcuffs can come off whenever Lupin wants them to. he stays, though, because Pops put so much effort into this date arrest scenario, and he waits until Zenigata’s asleep to make his escape. that’s…that’s just sweet.

Context isn’t helpful, except to know this is the least bizarre part of the episode. Alongside Lupin dressing in very bad drag and being crucified, then trapped in a knockoff of The Birds (from “Musical Variation of Monkey Business”).

This episode is almost indescribably crazy—-even by pink jacket standards—-and then there’s this gem at the end. Gotta love the underwear line on Pops even though he’s completely naked.
